Our brand name, MATOKA, comes from the Japanese adjective “madoka” (円か),
which has also been historically read as “matoka.” “Madoka” describes something round,
whole, and complete, as well as a sense of calm, harmony, and peaceful balance.
It also echoes the Finnish word “matka,” meaning “journey.”
